redbone, she look tropic

without a spray tan

with a spray tan

i haven't wrote in over two months so bare with me if i have any run on sentences, too many commas, and/or begin to ramble!  i wanted this particular topic to be one of the first things i expound on, especially before summer ends:)

well i am sure the first few questions that arise are, 'isn't ari indian or black?  why is she TANNING?  she's dark already!'.  i have asked myself the same questions when people assumed i hit up the local tanning salon that used to be a blockbuster, before i tried sunless tanning.  like why would i go to a tanning salon, when i am already blessed with this natural, lovely colour?  i mean, i even got a $25 gift certificate to use at blockbuster (i mean that salon) last year and was super confused.  totally re-gifted it.  i can also say that i never understood, whether it be out of ignorance or just cause it didn't make any sense at all to me, why someone with a significant amount of melanin would go to a tanning salon to begin with.  well my questions were soon answered...

though many of my pictures show me with makeup on, i actually really hate wearing it.  these days i am lucky if i get dolled up 3 times a month and i am blessed with a j.o. that doesn't require me to wear any at all.  it's out of pure laziness for me that i don't wear any everyday.  plus i constantly touch my face and getting makeup on my hands drives me crazy!  i would definitely rather sleep in, than get up to beat my face with concealer and mascara, and when i do put it on those 3 times, i have come up with a 15 minute routine that i refuse to change.  part of that routine is carmex on my eyebrows.  where i got that from, i have no idea.  y'all should try it though, it's amazing.

anyways, i personally have an issue with bags underneath my eyes.  it's quite unfortunate, but that's what comes with the territory:  insomnia, 4hrs of sleep per night, working full time, etc.  also, my skin tone isn't one colour, so that makes things a challenge for me sometimes.  trying to find that one shade is practically impossible.  one day casually talking to my friend la toya, it came up that a mutual friend of ours (with high melanin, like myself) owns her own spa, called sunbathe, and spray tans often.  my curiosity started there.

sunbathe offers services such as facials, waxing, massages, manis/pedis, and sunless tanning.  i was headed to miami a few weeks ago and had some natural tan lines that i incurred floating the comal river, in this ungodly heat.  i wanted to get them covered up, so i went ahead and called a'ja, the owner of sunbathe, to schedule my first appointment.  & boy was i happy with the outcome!  i was ONE all even, bronzy colour (bronzy, not burnt or dry looking), it wasn't harmful to my skin, it covered up my bags underneath my eyes, i only wore makeup once while in miami (& miami is a city you must be fly at all times), and it lasted approximately two weeks.  i am currently on my 2nd round and plan on possibly getting it done for my birthday next month.  don't get it twisted though, i am in love with my natural colour, but this is a great way to get that bronzy colour most gals strive for, especially for summer, without soaking up unnecessary, harmful sun rays.

in conclusion, here are four pictures of me in the hopes that you can see the before and after effects.  & if you can't owell!  in my fabulous, purple robe i have no make up on and the other two i do.  what i was most impressed about with the entire process, is how well my face took the colour.  feel free to ask me any questions if you have any!

p.s. i do have teeth and they are pretty.
